> Joint Replacement:

Total Joint Replacement (Arthroplasty)– Replacement of any joint which includes knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows. Here, open surgery is performed to remove the damaged articular cartilage surface area . The damaged part is replaced with a prosthesis. Read More about Joint Replacement.

  • Knee Joint Replacement:
    Osteoarthritis of the Knee is more common,  followed by rheumatoid arthritis, rarely post-traumatic arthritis.  Both the knees may be replaced in a single sitting, depending upon patient fitness.
  • Hip Joint Replacement:
  1. Hemiarthoplasty: Replacement of the Femoral Head in cases of fractured neck femur/communited inter-trochantric fractures,  commonly seen  in older patients. The best treatment option is Bipolar Hip Replacement. This ensures ultrafast recoveries – patients can start walking by the third day after the operation.
  2. Total Hip Replacement: Second most common occurrence, which involves the replacement of the Femoral Head as well as the replacement of the Acetabulum in cases of Osteoarthritis.
  • Shoulder Replacement:

Done rarely in Comminuted fractures or Osteoarthritis.

>   Arthroscopic Surgery:

  1. Knee Arthroscopy:
    Therapeutic Arthroscopic surgeries in knee joints performed mainly for ligament reconstruction; commonly done for Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) and Meniscal injuries.
  • Shoulder Arthroscopy:
    It is done to repair rotator cuff injuries, recurrent shoulder dislocation, impingement problems due to acromian process.
